This review is from: Monster Cable MH BTS-P OE DTX UN Beats Pro Special Edition Detox Professional Headphones (Black) (Electronics)
The only negatives I have to say about these headphones are:
1) The "Detox" label over the headband is printed on, for $600msrp they could have embroidered, it makes an otherwise very nice headphone look cheap.
2) It would have been nice to get a hard case in the box, they come with the cheaper versions of Beats, why not the high-end version?? The 'dust baggy' really doesn't do much, it can't even completely cover the headphones, and it offers no protection if you were to put them in a back-pack or something like that.
3) They definitely should have included a second cable with the control-talk controls, like the cheaper versions of Beats.
Other than that, they are very nice, both in construction and sound quality... I'm not sure if there is any difference between these Limited editions and the regular Beats Pro other than the color and $100...
If you are simply looking to listen to an iPod and that's it, you will not be able to get your moneys worth, these are not the best choice for several reasons. First they are a reference headphone, meaning they reproduce exactly what is there with no coloration to the original signal, so they are not as "fun" to listen to as something that really boosts the low and lo-mid frequencies, like the majority of headphones and ear-buds do. Next, music on an mp3 player or iPod is compressed, so the quality is not sufficient enough to warrant the need for reference level anything, headphones or speakers. Lastly, and probably the biggest reason, an iPod does not have enough power to run these headphones properly without the aid of an external power-amp, so you will never be able to get the 'full effect' of these headphones, and I'm not simply talking about volume, that really has little to do with it. So for iPod and/or everyday commuting use, I'd recommend Beats solo or studio, or an in-ear headphone like Skull-candy titan or 50-50's (both have a ton of sound for the money)
But, if you need reference level headphones for recording, they are AMAZING!! Very accurate, and very well built. They are also surprisingly comfortable to wear, even after long sessions of use. If you are an audiophile looking for something that looks as good as it sounds, highly recommend this product.
