I recently did a large project in my house and had received this unit for X-mas.

One of the larger parts of my project involved getting about 1000 screws into tight places with precision and consistent torque. This tool really delivered great results.

I looked at other 90-degree converters for regular drills and there was just too much bulk added from a standard drill. Also, if you read carefully, most 90-degree add-ons are not rated for high torque so they may crack after heavy use.

The build quality of this unit is fantastic. It's built like a tank.

The unit accepts regular sized bits and that means quick bit changes are a snap.

The only thing I wish it came with was a snap-on chuck so I could put drill bit on it easily. I do have some hex-slotted drill bits which I can use in a pinch.

I am really impressed with this cordless driver. For as small as it is, it really has a lot of torque. I bought another brand that practically had no torque at all. I sent it back and bought this one. You get what you pay for. The work light really lights up the area where you are using the driver. If I had a complaint at all of this tool, it would be it is hard to drive a screw at a real slow speed, for instance, when you are just starting the screw. The trigger is real sensitive. You have to use small movements of the trigger. As I use the tool more, I am getting better at selecting the proper speed for driving screws, etc. I like the compact size of the driver also.

This is an amazing drill.

its 159 at Lowes but you will get an extra battery. so thats 3 batteries total, and since one of those batteries are around 40 bucks its cheaper to get it there.

Make sure that your local Lowes Homes Improvement is running that special though, because I am not sure if the deal is still going on. 9-10-2011

I was in the market for a new cordless drill and I walked into Louis Williams Hardware (makitadirect ) and was tempted by the owner to take a peek at the new Makita. I was amazed at the power of the tiny device but was not sure how it would fit into my needs. I left, but went back and bought one and set to work installing 4 new replacement windows in my basement. Here is what I learned:

1. This is a single speed, impact tool. The impact feature allows the driver to turn long and stubborn screws in hard material using a smaller motor and light weight battery, while also being very easy on your wrist. It does ALL the work.

2. As I said, it IS single speed, giving you somewhat less control for delicate work; it takes some getting used to.

3. As a trade off for its ability to drive stubborn screws, it does make slower, and slower progress as screws get more stubborn. You can screw in screws faster with a standard driver. But, like the Energizer Bunny, this thing keeps going, and going, until it gets there.

4. You are much less likely to strip the head with this tool.

5. Battery life is incredible and recharging is fast with the Lithium Ion system.

6. If you are going to be drilling, you will want to get special drills with a built in impact fitting. It does drill nicely, BUT, there is only one speed making starting a hole tricky in hard materials.

7. It has a nice LED work light.

8. The forward/reverse switches have a definite handedness to them. A lefty might not like it.

9. It is inexpensive. At $99, it is a great, reliable tool.

10. I enjoyed installing the windows, and used the tool for all aspects except drilling into the masonary. For that, I used a corded drill.

11. It comes with a nice little holster.

12. Consider buying the Makita impact accesory kit. It is a bargain way to get the drills and quick change bit holder.

13. In summary, a nice accessory with a thousand uses, but it will not replace your cordless drill.

Since most of these reviews are from a residential contractors's perspective, I thought I'd write a review that a car mechanic like myself would want to read. I bought this item to replace a Makita 3/8 drive 12 volt impact wrench. (a common tool for most auto technicians, especially those in car dealerships). My old Makita was still working but had a bad battery and an annoying tendency to drop sockets with the stock anvil clip and wobble with an added retainer type adapter. It had ample power and held up well in it's 5 years of daily use in a professional environment. It is still a fine tool for occasional use.

Recently, the car brand that our shop is affiliated with rolled out a massive recall on over 140,000 models. The reader's digest version of my story is that myself along with a few others are dedicated purely to these repairs. My Makita runs non-stop for 8-9 hours a day. It never cools. Battery swaps happen often. My hand cramps from holding it. The trigger finger is switched between index, middle finger, and the pinky to alleviate fatigue. Needless to say, this type of use is the acid test for for any type of electric tool.

Now enter the Makita BTD142HW. This thing rocks. It's a monster! Most of the small fasteners I put this thing on don't even activate the hammer! It's small. It's light. The fact that it is a driver instead of a wrench eliminate the anvil clip problem. No wobble, no power robbing vibration. I'm in heaven! Oh yeah, the best part is the price!! OMG! The tool guy wanted to charge me $329.00!!!! He said that was a good deal because it was a promotional deal. I told him that I could get the SAME TOOL from Amazon for $180 and he just looked at me like I was speaking Chinese!

The only thing that is even slightly negative about this driver is the color. According to my wife the black and white color scheme looks sexy. I personally think it's a poor choice for an automotive environment. The white will not be white for long. Besides that, I would recommend buying 2 of these things at this price. FIVE STARS!!!!

I bought this last year after my Black and Decker 18v drill died it's 3rd death. I got it in a 4 tool combo kit on sale at Lowes. I build haunted houses for the Halloween season so most of what I do construction wise is with rough and sometimes very old and hard woods. The woods are also made super tough (like rock) from a chemical that must be sprayed on them to make them fire retardant. I found that before, even with an 18v drill that screws would shear off before going into the boards which made it difficult to make secure connections in the wood. It is hard to make something look old and spooky and still have it be safe so having good, solid tools is a must. Right after I charged the battery I tried this tool out. Wow!! It drove a 3 inch deck screw into an old hardened 2x4 in the blink of an eye!! I had never used a tool like that. It quickly became a favorite of mine on the jobsite. I used it hard and it never once let me down. I bought it toward the end of the build so I only got to use it on a few hundred screws but never a disappointment. I'm looking forward to using on this season's build as well as in my volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity. I would highly recommend this tool to anyone who builds.

I actually bought the BRK-300, which is the same as the BRK-200, but with a rotisserie. For almost a year, the oven was used for little most than toasting and warming on the toast setting and it did a pretty good job. But ...

1. Maybe not an issue for you, but these ovens are HUGE. Check out the dimensions. The 300 has an additional two-plus inches of motor housing sticking out the back. On a 25-inch counter, it will come very near the front edge of your counter. The huge handles on both sides take up another two inches each -- maybe to keep stuff away so it won't melt! And cleaning the crumb tray requires that you turn the oven completely around to slide it out the back through a slit so narrow that any crumb larger than a pin head gets scraped off and stays inside the oven.

2. The controls are poorly made and the dot on the knob does not line up with the setting on the oven, so I had to count "clicks" to know where is was set.

3. After using it with food that created slight splattering (like heating a piece of pizza with sausage on it), the "brick" walls (actually about 40% of the left and right walls) on the insides of the oven are impossible to clean.

4. It seriously overheats on the bake setting and might not ever shut off. I don't know, I turned it off because the area around it was so hot.

5. I kept the crumb tray clean at all times, especially after anything that dripped on it might burn. This was generally very easy. But recently, some grease from a pizza was fairly firm and you cannot clean the tray with anything abrasive. It was not burned on, just gummy and somewhat hardened. So, I soaked it in some water with Dawn detergent. In the morning, the tray was covered with blisters that had dark black spots under them. I tried to order a new crumb tray and Cuisinart does not have them! Not for the 300, the 200 or the 100. I wonder why? Crumb tray problem, Cuisinart?

After waiting for more than a month after this problem was "escalated to corporate", I called back and they offered to send me a BRK-200 as a replacement, but I had to pay to ship the 300 back to Cuisinart. At first I accepted, but then I turned them down. This toaster oven has been discontinued after only one year and Cuisinart is selling off the BRK-200 and maybe sme BRK-100s if there are any of those still around, but beware, you will never buy a replacement crumb tray! I don't want it or a lesser replacement oven in my house!

The customer service representative was in no way sympathetic to these problems and about as rude as he could get away with. I hate to waste my time writing stuff like this and letters to Cuisinart, but be forewarned, this is not an oven you will be happy with.

I'm incredibly disappointed with Ronco's customer service. I spent a bunch of money to have the oven sent next-day hoping to use it tonight to make dinner. Unfortunately I opened the box to find the heat reflector was missing. I called customer service thinking they'd send it out asap. Nope. First of all, customer service has been outsourced to India, and I was on hold waiting to speak to someone for 10 mins. And second, the guy didn't understand what I was saying. Finally, when he figured out that I was trying to tell him the heat reflector was missing, the very unapologetic man told me I had to register the thing online and then fax my request for the missing part, along with a copy of my receipt, to somewhere in California. I told him it was ridiculous, and he told me that was company policy. I think Ronco should refund my next-day shipping fees, and send the missing part out using next-day service as well. Apparently it's impossible to speak with any sort of competent customer service rep in the States. All I can do is fax or leave a message. I wish I would've known Ronco's customer service was this unprofessional before I bought the oven.

I've had this product for just over two months prior to my review.
The Hamilton Beach 31199 Counter Top Oven has a lot of room inside to cook just about anything. The first thing I made was a 4 pound rotisserie Ribeye Roast. It was perfect!.
I've found that I use this oven more often than my microwave for heating things up. Previously fried foods cook better in the convection oven than in the microwave.
The oven seems built well. The bottom crumb tray is a great feature.

I love my new Ronco Compact Rotisserie. I'm cooking several times a week now because it's so easy and the food tastes sooooo good. My mother has an older version without the non-stick coating on the round blades and drip pan. Clean-up is much easier than the older model. IT'S SO EASY -- just skewer the meat and turn it on -- that's it! So far, I've cooked 2 whole chickens which were a hit at my recent dinner party, fresh salmon, chicken breasts and beef short ribs. Everything I cook in the rotisserie comes out moist and delicious since it's constantly basting in its own juices as it cooks. My friend has the larger model and we cooked a 15 pound turkey in it for Christmas dinner. Not only did the turkey cook in half the time than in a conventional oven but it was incredibly moist and tender -- the best white meat I've ever had. We're definitely cooking turkey in the rotisserie from now on. The Ronco Showtime Rotisserie is my favorite new gadget. I'm not getting tired of it any time soon.

We bought this microwave at Bestbuy after doing some research into what's a dependable model. We paid $165 on June 30. Today is Aug 12, and the microwave broke already! We don't abuse our appliances and are basically gentle users. Today I tried to heat up some frozen bread for 10 sec, and it goes on for 1 sec and turns off by itself. The turntable no longer turns. I tried all the other features, and the same thing happens - it turns on for a sec or 2, and then lights out. What a piece of junk! How can they sell an appliance that lasts less than 6 weeks??????????

This item has been nicely updated. It now has a black and stainless steel look which just happens to match my updated kitchen. Also, capacity is larger than previously. On the down side, a tray is not provided; previous models included the proper size tray. Secondly, I am concerned about the door. It opens on one hinge to a "springy", unstable position; previous models had a hinge on both sides of the door which opened to a solid, firm position. The Spacemaker Oven no longer enters "Pause" mode when you open the door to check on your food; oblivious to the open door, it just keeps on cooking. Although the word "broil" appears nowhere on this unit, "Bake" mode can be set to broiling temperature, 450 degrees.

As you may have read elsewhere, installation of this unit can be quite a challenge. You can follow B&D's directions to a point, but after you place a washer over each of the four holes as directed I would suggest you follow these alternate directions (for Standard Installation): (1) Drop a screw through each washer, covering each of the 4 holes. There should be ample amount of screw protruding beneath your cabinet to allow for proper threading into the nut. Choose screws accordingly from the hardware bag provided. No need to search in the bag for the nuts. They are already implanted into the mounting hood. See them? (2) On the floor--or on a table that you can circumnavigate--attach the hood to the oven, NOT to the cabinet as the folks at B&D would have you do. (3) The half inch or so space between the top of the oven and the bottom of the hood must be maintained temporarily or else the hood might disengage in the rear. Therefore, insert a wash cloth into this space on each side of the unit. You may first want to fold them neatly in order to create a more snug, even fit. Leave part of each wash cloth hanging out of the space for ease of removal when the time comes. (4) At this point, if you are strong enough to lift the oven and screw it onto the bottom of your cabinet, go ahead and do so. Then skip down to step #6. If you aren't that strong--or, very wisely, just want to be cautious--we will need to put something on top of the counter, something that will prop up the oven to a few inches below the four hanging screws. For example, I used two pillows. I put the pillows on top of the counter and the oven, facing me, atop the pillows. Assuming that you arrange something similar, using pillows or whatever, the top of the hood should now be only a few inches below the four hanging screws. (5) Okay, this is it! You have your Phillips screwdriver, right? And may I assume that your cabinet doors are open? With one arm under the oven, probably your left if you're right-handed, you are going to raise the oven in order for the hood to make contact with the bottom of the screws. Meanwhile, your right hand, holding the screwdriver down in the screw of your choice, is eagerly waiting to screw. When you get one screw done it's like you've got a helping hand. Don't screw it all the way, though. Go to the next, then the next, then the last. Now screw them in more, evenly. Finally, tighten them up. (6) Now pull out the wash cloths. Under no circumstances are you to leave anything in that space. (7) I find that the unit looks better without the four little feet. If you agree, use your Phillips to unscrew them.

Received this item in September. From day one this toaster oven would toast ONLY on one side of the bread. Calling black and decker resulted in them telling me to turn the bread over when the top side was done!! I exchanged this appliance three times, with the same result. Regardless of rack positioning, the bread still toasted only on one side.

Recently, after using this on an oven setting, I've discovered that the toaster part doesn't work at all. The elements go off once the oven reaches some pre-determined temperature, as if it's on oven setting. This has resulted in completely dried out toast (still having to turn the bread over) which crumbles when buttered or used in a sandwich.

Black and Decker used to make quality products. Has some schlock outfit bought the name and trademarks?

It's certainly too late for me to get my money back. I'll have to eat the loss and find a better toaster oven.

We bought this oven online. So far, we've toasted bagels, made frozen pizza and baked potatoes in it. They've all come out perfect. Control panel is super easy to use, and the oven is easy to clean with teflon lining. Make sure this is what you want, though. Only a limited number of toaster settings (Light, Med. Light, Medium, Med. Dark, Dark) are available - none in between. There are no dials. Also, Only oven temperatures like this are available (... 275, 300, 325, 350, 375, 400, 425 ...) - none in between. You can't bake anything at 385 degrees - only 375 or 400 degrees. Also, it's a little slow to preheat. But all in all, we love it.

I just ordered this 11/14/11 and used it for the first time tonight. I did 2 chickens - 4.5 lbs each for 90 minutes. The whole family loved it. It was very easy to use and clean up. The description does not say the spit rod assembly and gloves are included but fear not, they come with the unit along with everything else that is listed. I am looking forward to trying more things out. It will be cooking a turkey in it for Thanksgiving. ***One thing was slightly disappointing was the door is much harder to remove and re-insert than it should be. The left side is wedged in pretty tightly and it's a bit of struggle to deal with. I double checked the instructions to make sure I was doing it properly and I was but it seems it will be a bit of a wrestling match. Maybe the plastic groove than it slides into will loosen up with repeated efforts.

I followed the instructions for toast-set the rack to the B position,turned the temp to 500 degrees, set on bake/toast,turned the timer dial past 20 minute than back to the toast shade I desired, I selected the lightest shade possible. I was a little nervous after reading the burned toast comments so I stood by and watched. The toast was perfect, exactly as it would have been in a toaster.

Next I tried a 12" frozen pizza, followed the instructions-set to 425 degrees, set the rack to the A position, set the timer. The only thing I did differently was I placed a sheet of alumium foil under the bottom heating elements on top of the crumb tray because I put the pizza directly on top on the rack (instructions do not indicate to do this). I added extra cheese and spices, set the timer for 10 minutes. The top of the pizza was done perfectly. The crust was slightly burned on the bottom, next time I'll set the timer for 9 minutes and lower the temp(9 minutes for a frozen pizza! wow, even my pizzaz pizza cooker takes 25 minutes).

Yes, the dial is hard to turn at first, it does loosen up, so far this is my only complaint. I can't wait to roast chicken or a full meal using the convection feature. So far so good, very happy with this product. I got it for $104.00, so I'm even happier with the price.

I am really happy with this toaster oven.
Pros:
- Toasts, bakes and broils evenly
- Warms up quickly
- Includes broiler pan
- Nice looking
- Doesn't take up a lot of space
- Oven rack has two positions (high or low)
- Roomy inside (4 slices of pizza fit well)
- It has a clock
- Tray can sit on top of oven when you're not using it

Cons:
- Must toast at lowest level (T1) which is not the default (T4 is, and I've never used it)
- Can't set machine defaults
- Beeping noise oven makes when pressing buttons is unnecessary and kind of loud; no option to turn sound off

One of the first things I do when buying a product on Amazon is to take advantage of the customer reviews and I generally start with the 1 stars. If I see negative comments that raise questions as to whether the product will work beyond a couple of weeks or has some basic design flaws, I pass it up and find something else. In the case of this product the negative comments had to do with a lack of a release button (to release stop the toasting process and release the bread carriage to its full up position) and a lack of browning uniformity. Those were basically it. These weren't grounds for rejecting the product, so I went ahead with the purchase.

First, the unit does have a release in the form of a small bar below the external plunger handle. Second, it browns the bread just fine. Third, it even comes with a button to toast bagels. For the price, it is a great little toaster. Sure, it doesn't have special settings for frozen bread, Pop-tarts, etc., but then it doesn't cost $50 or $75 either. I toasts bread slices and it does that well.

The only criticism I have is that the cord length, which is about 18", limits where the toaster can be placed on the counter. Not a big deal, but a minor irritation.

Though a little pricey, the Kitchen Aid Toaster Oven (KATO) is well worth it's purchase price. Unlike many toaster ovens, it actually makes toast the way you want it. The invaluable feature of the KATO is that it produces exactly the amount of heat it's set at; if you set the KATO at 300 degrees F, that exactly the cooking temperature you get. The KATO has fabulous size for a toaster oven. Given I live in a one person household, I use it to cook anything and everything most folks would cook below the stove top burners in an ordinary stove.

I had this for 3 days and it is going back. Looks nice, seems to cook good, but it gets almost as hot on the outside as it does on the inside. I can't believe they can still sell this thing. I've had B&D toaster ovens for years. This one gets HOT on the exterior-all the way around. When I say hot, I mean scalding hot. First time I toasted something I went to wipe a spec of dust off the top and bam first burn. Ok, it's hotter on the outside than the old ones. Next my son went to make toast as he's done for years on the old ones and accidentally touched the side, again burn. Third day, making toast I saw smoke and low and behold the hottest part of this unit is the back where the power cord was melting from the heat. I went to unplug it and accidentally touched the back for asplit second and 2nd degree burn! Unacceptable and definite fire hazard.

I just got this and have already cooked chicken - which comes out crispy golden brown on the outside and juicy on the inside just like it says it will, and pork bbq ribs, which I used to cook the pork until almost done, then switched over to my crock pot where I added bbq sauce and cooked slowly for 3 hours. PERFECT!

It's easier to clean than I thought it would be - it really does just rinse out with a quick swish. I got this model because I wanted the manual control knobs rather than the digital and I have no problems with them at all. It is quiet, only the timer and fan make noise and they are both really quiet.

I was most surprised at how quickly and perfectly that golden brown crust formed on the chicken and the pork. I also cooked some steak fries and they browned quickly and cooked quickly as well.

I plan to get one of these for each of my kids to use as well.

Received the oven very quickly through my family memeber's prime account.

At first I felt very lucky that I got a refurbished unit just like new except the package and owner's manual. But my happiness didn't last until I found out that top heating elements do not work at all, at broil mode, I can even put my hands inside the oven, feel the heat from the bottom and no heat from the top. To further validate my judgement, I used a thermometer to check the temperature, 400 degree setting in bake mode reads 200 degree only on the thermometer, maybe my thermometer is broken, so I put the same thermometer into my big range oven, 400 degree to bake, after preheat, it reads 400 exactly.

I don't know how the "element IQ" works, on this defective unit, even though the top elements don't glow, the oven still seems work fine, pre heat in no time to the incorrect temperature and then count down the timer....if you don't pay attention to the details such as bagels color change, or top elements color change etc, you will never find out anything wrong. To me, real "IQ" should be, if one of the elements fails, other elements should work longer or harder to catch up to the "right" temperature you set.

I keep asking myself, when Breville checks the returned oven, do they really have a thorough procedure to follow, or just see, oh, it is clean, it heats up, let us repack and ship to amazon sell as "refurbished" or " re-conditoned"/

I am in the process of exchange now. Maybe somebody check my returned oven, then do nothing but repack, and send back to here for sale again.

This is my second vertical rotisserie, first one was lost due to a house fire. This appliance makes cooking so easy and the food comes out smelling and tasting fantastic. I spent about a year looking at toasters on Amazon. Needed one for my renovated house. I just could not bring myself to pay $128 for a toaster, but after reading features, was also unable to buy anything else. I convinced myself that it would look so great with my black soapstone counters and brushed stainless appliance junk that I should really consider it a renovation cost. Problem solved!
Toaster arrived last weekend, have taken several days off from job to make toast. First, let's just say how cool the thing looks and works. Yes, it is weighty, but I don't carry it around much. But, it's got these cool tech buttons that do all the heaviest work, like moving the toast up and down. Then there is that row of LEDs that flash to show how much toasting time remains. Also very cool! And it wasn't until I read revies here that I understood what "bagel" settings were. This one has 'em. "Lift and look" takes away some of the dark side of toasting, but is great for the anxiety-ridden. "A little bit more" is also fun, though there is no "little bit less". Anyway great fun and great looks. I can't wait to see how house-guests respond. I have to find a house-guest.
One of my biggest hesitations about the Breville, aside from humorous price, was the reviews suggesting it was unable to toast evenly. I immediately bought bread at Acme and found even toasting, slice after slice. The local sparrows were happy with the experiment and urged a repeat run. I guess reviewers here must have gotten bum units? I am surprised Breville does not want to take back the product they bought? I noted in the manual (RTFM) that they recommend a dedicated circuit (and what next, a dedicated toast house?), but they do say if it doesn't get sufficient amps it may perform poorly. I agree with reviewers that an examination of the heating ribbons was disappointing: they are a bit dim and patchy; for this price I was expecting an advance view into Hell.
Anyway, so far I still think !. Beautiful 2. functionality supreme! And all for only $129 or so!
