I've owned one of these for years and was a little surprised to see it on Amazon's list of bought-by-you yet unrated stuff.

Quite simply, this is a great measuring tool. Very accurate, very repeatable, hasn't broke. It has saved me a lot of time.

That said, it isn't a complete replacement for a tape measure. Specifically, measuring a board. The laser beam has to bounce off of something and that board is lying flat. I solve the problem by pushing the end of the board against a wall or some similar artifice. Or I just use a tape measure.
