They just broke on me Today. The screws that keep the Left side attached just came out (I assume it was combination of glue as well). It went on for about 2 weeks and then finally came undone. If not for that I'd say they were some of the best 80.00 headphones I've ever used.
Btw, I'm a DJ who has used headphones from 400.00 to 10.00. My main thing is durability (because most companies seem to know how to make them sound ok) and no matter what I've paid they always seem to fall apart in some way shape or form. On a side note I think the Pioneer DJ Headphones (they're the most expensive ones I've used) aren't anything amazing. Oddly enough the headphones I keep going back to are the Sony MDR-7506's. They are louder than the AKG's (which I love but they aren't loud enough to actually DJ with, but they are great studio headphones) and built like tanks. I always thought it was dumb to be using them for DJing and always tried this or the other "Optimal DJ Headphone" but truth be told it's all about being comfortable being able to hear what you want to mix. That's it.
I really wish the 400.00 headphones did something a bit better than the 80.00 headphones (hell, at least a better warranty) but that still seems to be said.
The XB700 are good for keeping in your room for personal use but if you intend to lug them around, throw them in a bag, have them out in the elements/weather etc. then they won't last you more than 2 years.
