I purchased this processor after it being suggested to me from a friend. Had I have spent just a little more time researching I believe I would have ultimately decided to order the 1090T with the only real difference being price and 100mhz. I have an MSI K9A2 Platinum (7376) mainboard and this processor is not listed as being supported on their website, however, with a BIOS flash to 1.B I was able to install this processor with no problems. Would recommend this upgrade to anyone considering it. A few things to consider before making the purchase.
If you are just looking for a decent upgrade and don't need all the performance you can get at the moment then consider the 1090T. It is cheaper and you wont notice a difference. Seriously consider a 3rd party cooling option. For this I went with the Corsair H50. I'm sure the H50 kit out of the box would cool this processor just fine, i chose to add a second fan for a push / pull configuration.
I gave this processor 4 stars for the following reasons.
- Not a big enough performance difference between this processor and the 1090T to really justify the price difference.
- Stock cooling fan is really loud under stress.
Other than that, I'm very satisfied with my purchase. Should keep me chugging along in Photoshop and gaming until the buldozer prices come down enough for me to justify another upgrade in the future.
