This review is from: Manfrotto MB SS390-7BB AGILE VII Sling Bag (Black) (Electronics)
When this first arrived I was shocked by it's size. It's way too big for a single camera sling bag. There's a ton of wasted space you can't do a thing with. The sling is attached to a tab that's sewn in with the camera flap zipper. The very first time I used this, the zipper pull came off.

This brings me to my number one complaint: The shoulder strap pulls the zipper out of shape and makes the camera flap very difficult to open or close. This is the zipper you'll use several times each day. It WILL fail. Talk about a bone-headed design idea. Who attaches the main support strap right next to the zipper - actually sharing the same stitch?

Next complaint - there is a ton of space (usually a good thing), but it has no practical use. It's like that corner in your crawlspace or attic - sure it can be used, but is it worth the frustration and bother? The camera compartment, once configured for a 200mm lens, has a ton of wasted space, around, next to and above the camera. I'm using a Canon 7D with battery grip and 70-200mm f2.8 w/ IS. After snugging and adjusting everything this leaves about 30% of the camera pouch empty and unusable. The section designed to hold two extra lenses can only be accessed with the camera removed - and unless you purchase additional dividers can't be used - is another design fail. The center divider is about 5" tall. The overall height is closer to 10" - so there's 5" of space without a divider. This means that the lenses can simply fall out of the spaces and rattle around in the bag. Sure you can move part of the camera support down to fill this space, but then you're camera is resting on the lens and a 1/4" thick padded divider. Not very secure or safe.

The other part of the bag is designed for "small" accessories like "sunglasses" and the like. If you use Elton John's super-size sunglasses. See my photos - yes, that's a pair of size 10 shoes in the compartment designed for "small accessories." And there's still more room. Again, no dividers. The "floor" of this compartment is also the wall of the camera compartment and can be moved. This just gives you more wasted space in either compartment. If they would have provided dividers to make this space useful, I can see a purpose for it. But as designed these spaces are useless. The LAST thing you want is your lenses, charger, batteries, etc. just rattling around in one large compartment. If you have another smaller bag, you could probably but it inside this bag - but why bother?!

Next complaint: The design of the sling. When it's adjusted to ride on your back, it's great. Rotate it around - and it's too high to be of any practical use! It's literally five inches from your chin! So you have to loosen up the sling BEFORE you rotate it around. When it is all the way around, the padded shoulder strap is totally off the shoulder - so now all the weight of the bag is on the non-padded nylon strap. Digging into your shoulder.

I would not trust this as a bag that gets stuffed into an overhead compartment. I own a couple of sling bags, several different camera bags and a camera back pack (well designed with dividers.) I'm usually a big fan of Manfrotto products. I have five of their tripod heads, three tripods, and tons of accessories. Some are almost 30 years old and work as well as the day I purchased them. This product is a huge disappointment. Nothing is designed with any common sense! Even the large aluminum clip that secures the accessory pocket flap - at first glance - wow - looks great! BUT - the flap has to be partially unzippered to unclip the thing! This means unnecessary tinkering and using both hands. The problem - there's a huge velcro tab as well. This means that's a project to open this flap.

This is the perfect example of form and function NOT working together.
