I purchased this multimedia stand as extra storage, and it's exactly what I expected. While not real wood, the media stand is fairly sturdy. The color is as dark as the product photo, but is a nice addition to any media room.
It took me about 20 minutes to put it together by myself. Another person would've been nice to put the first few pieces together, but it's not impossible to do it yourself. Otherwise, it went together quite easily with no problems. In addition to the allen wrench provided in the box, you will also need a Phillips head screwdriver. The pieces are labeled with a small sticker (e.g., "A", "B", "C", etc.) so it's very easy to know which piece the directions are referring.
I use one side for DVDs and the other for books, using all 10 shelves (5 on each side). So far, I have 105 DVDs, 10 DVD TV seasons cases (larger than the standard DVD case), and 52 standard size paperbacks - and I have room for a bit more. Now in order to get all 10 shelves in with the DVDs & books, some of the shelves are close together and the books/DVDs are laying on their sides (as shown in the product photo). I don't think it would hold 385 DVDs, but it probably would hold that many CDs AND DVDs.
Overall, this media stand is worth the price if you are wanting something nice with a decent amount of storage, but not too expensive.
