The platform frame is constructed out of laminated engineered wood and completely recycled fibers. Each drawer opens with a pull to its metal handle, rolling with ease on the metal tracks. To ensure safe drawer opening and closing, the slides come equipped with dampers and stops. The platform frame fits together with a matching headboard, available for additional purchase, along with additional Step One collection furniture pieces. Likewise, the bed frame requires the separate acquisition of a mattress. The bed frame arrives shrink-wrapped and ready for adult home assembly. In the event of defective parts or workmanship, South Shore offers a limited five-year warranty after online product registration. Bed looks great, especially with headboard. Looks overwhelming when you first open box, but follow the directions and you will have no problem putting it together. Make sure you have the base where you want it before you put flat boards overtop to create platform because you will not be able to drag it across the carpet nor will you be able to pick it up by the overhanging boards.
